In this day in age we all don’t have much time to read. No matter who you are, it seems as if we all have overly busy schedules. Not only do we have busy schedules, but so many distractions from TV to our phones to the Internet. In order to expand our knowledge and grow personally we must incorporate reading into our daily lives. Yes, reading is time consuming, but it may not be as hard as you think, we just need to change the way we read. Most actually read every day, but it consist of articles we see on Facebook or other forms of social media. Here are five ways you can incorporate reading into you daily routine.
Plan for it
Be strategic about what you read. Make a list of the books you are interested in reading and then buy it or download it before you actually want to start reading. When it is time to read you already have the book on hand and will be ready.
Schedule a time to read each day. Carve 15 to 20 minutes each day to read. Whether you do it first thing in the morning or right before you go to sleep make it apart of your routine.
Reading a book does not mean that you need to read every word. Some parts of a book are just not necessary for your reading purpose. First get to know the author, then read the table of contents, get a good idea of the contents of the book and writing style by reading the introduction and conclusion of the book, then skim each chapter. By doing this you get a good idea of the information you may need from the book and can even take notes.
Listen to it
If all else fails you can listen to an audio book. Sites like audible.com make it easy to downloadand listen to books. This way you can gain information from the book while doing other activities.
